The project is named The Bethesda Project after the pools of Bethesda in The Gospel of John, Chapter 5. In the same way that Jesus loved and healed the disabled man by the pools of Bethesda, it is hoped that The Bethesda Project will also be a catalyst for healing – physically, emotionally, spiritually and relationally for people in Burundi who have disabilities and for a society ravaged by 10 years of tribal conflict.
